Fluoride in our drinking water

Let’s take a minute to consider whether we really want to have fluoride added to our tap water?  If we rely on public drinking water, then we really have no choice but to drink the water that we pay for being pumped into our homes.

My drinking water is supplied by Portland Water District and they add fluoride to our water.  Last time I checked, I did not sign up to be medicated by the Portland Water District?  Let’s see….  I can choose toothpaste at the store that does not contain fluoride.  I can choose this, because medical professionals have determined that fluoride is harmful if swallowed and falls into a category as a poison. Glass water bottles

I was leaving the gym the other day and  I was very thirsty for water and I had forgotten to bring my stainless steel canteen.  I looked into the beverage cooler and there were plenty of plastic bottles of Poland Spring water.  Some of Poland Springs’ water is bottled from an aquifer right down the street from my house in Maine.  I really wanted to buy one, but I couldn’t bring myself to drink water that was being stored in a plastic bottle.  It made me think of the unknown amount of time that water had been on a pallet in a warm warehouse and the amount of time it had spent traveling on a truck and the amount of time my gym had stored it in a warm place before they placed it into the cooler for me to purchase.  I can only imagine the kinds of chemicals that leach out of the plastic into the water as it sits around?  Sure, maybe most people don’t give it a lot of thought but what are we really drinking?  I began to wonder, why doesn’t Poland Spring bottle water in glass bottles? Glass is clean and 100% recyclable.  I know I personally would like that much better. Read More…
